I would be interested in studying how the model of the home office emerging in cities across the world now is in the process of mimicking, in many ways, an actual solid institution. The repercussions of the institutionalization of the domestic space include not only increasing productivity but valorizing the impetus for any kind of work done with its confines (academic, literary, artistic, commercial, etc..). It means overpowering the domestic; the outside-the-grasp-of-capitalism space and transforming it from a haven and escape into an institution marked with elements such as work hours, guilt over wasted time, strong lights for increased focus and productivity, and most importantly, a gnawing sense of detachment from our own safe homes; deeming us no longer able to see our intimate domestic spaces for what they are or used to be.
